DEATH OF COMMON SENSE

Vicki Nelson King, a friend of mine through Facebook, residing in Omaha, Nebraska posted this on her wall:

'Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:-Knowing when to come in out of the rain; - Why the early bird gets the worm;- Life isn't always fair; - And maybe it was my fault.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies, don't spend more than you can earn and adults, not children, are in charge.
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife Discretion, his daughter Responsibility, and his son, Reason.
He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers; I Know My Rights,I Want It Now,Someone Else Is To Blame,I'm A Victim. Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.'
AFTERS:
My comment to the post was ' common sense, though dead is living still in our hearts'. I found the whole piece funny at first bur i could not help thinking around it.
Common sense is really not as common as it sounds. It has since become lost to a lot of individuals for a long time and they hide under the fad ' it's hot to do this'; when they do silly things. A lot of misdemeanours by adults are bad examples to children whom they are trying to raise.
With this computer and Internet generation, friends and family are mostly not visited physically, but believe me, when I tell you that you will always need them for psychological support and adjustment. it will be very difficult at those times when they are needed, if the bond is not well established. Common sense tells you that it's the right thing to do, but you will rather Tweet them, blackberry Message them, or send birthday greetings on Facebook, first thing in the morning.
Worthwhile relationships inspire happiness and that is the ultimate goal of every human being; to be happy. Its common sense to disengage from or avoid relationships that you don't enjoy. You don't have to search for or create excuses to hang on to a dead relationship. Pride comes before a downfall, they say; it is not wise to be proud to use common laws of existence for survival just because they are common.
Common sense is used as a  problem solving strategy or avoidance strategy, just as the case may require.
For instance, living within your means and not out-spending your income is only common sense that has worked for years, but the credit card system came and dealt a mighty blow on it. I have never seen any system that accelerate bankruptcy as this credit card system.
Common sense may seem common but it has worked from the time of Adam to date. It has proved reliable and simple to apply.
It is advised that people use it more commonly.
